Welcome...

To our farm in the Kittitas Valley of Washington State where we humanely raise production-oriented sheep, hay and produce all kinds of woolen goods from our Coopworth and Texel flock.

Cooke Creek Sheep Flock
Our focus is on raising a dual-purpose commercial lamb with an emphasis on meat/carcass and wool quality. We utilize Texel genetics for extreme muscling and easy-fleshing on grass and Coopworth genetics for the increased frame size and wool quality.  This cross results in hybrid vigor and growthy lambs. Rates of gains depend on the ability of the ewe to milk well. CCS sheep are great milkers. Pasture is another part of the sheep equation - our CCS sheep grow out well on pasture. No feedlot here. We handle our sheep humanely and maintain strict health standards with a closed flock of ewes. Visit The Flock page to learn more.

Cooke Creek Texel Sires
Texel rams are extremely docile and easy to handle. We maintain a flock of purebred Texels to keep their myostatin muscling gene strong in our lambs. We select a few worthy purebred ram lambs each year to offer as flock sires. See the For Sale page to see what we currently have available.

Cooke Creek Wool
As we have learned more about working with wool the quality of our clip has improved. We breed for handspinning wool quality, hire excellent shearers and work to keep our fleeces clean with improved winter feeding methods. We do not coat or cover our sheep as we have predators around and don't need anything to make it easier for them. With both handmade and mill-processed wool products, we are proud to offer fiber artists lovely CCS wool which you can see on our Woolen Products page. Fresh from the studio woolen designs are available through our our Etsy Store.

Cooke Creek Hay
We raise a Timothy grass mix hay. Our sheep and horses thrive on it throughout the late fall and winter months. Our harvest is usually in June and then we graze the hay field the rest of the year.

Industry
Keeping involved in sheep industry issues is an important part of our management. Jami is past Executive Secretary of the Washington State Sheep Producers and keeps up on all of the current sheep issues statewide and nationally.
